THE LANTERN IN HOGSBACK IS NEARING COMPLETION The Lantern, a very special rental holiday home in Hogsback that has been designed and built by Richard Stratford is nearing completion. The superstructure is unique in that it is built almost entirely of local timber and toughened glass. HSC Consulting provided structural engineering input to the project.

EAST LONDON LOSES ONE OF ITS LANDMARKS The grain elevator, at the East London harbour, which has been a local landmark for over 50 years is in the process of being demolished. HSC are assisting the contractor with the structural design to make tthe process safe and to minimise damage. |

VINCENT PARK GETS A FACELIFT Old Mutual are embarking on a fairly major facelift to one of the premier shopping centres in East London. This will include improvements to the food court, the cinemas making way for new major tennants and various other improvements. HSC have been appointed as civil and structural engineers.

NEW CORPORATE IMAGE Through a process of consultation, HSCC has been working on a new corporate image, from which sprouted the new motto that best represents the practice of the firm: "Engineering with soul." The logo has also been upgraded to match their image and give a more fresh and modern look. |

DRPW SILVER EXCELLENCE AWARD A very good end to the year! On 25 November 2011, a Silver Excellence award was awarded to the team involved with transforming the St. Patricks TB ward into new Admin facilities. |

NAMING OF THE NEW MLUNGISI BRIDGE It is important for the communities of Stutterheim and Mlungisi to be involved in the regeneration of their town and let their voices be heard. Therefore, it was asked to submit poems, songs or stories of what this the new bridge means to them in order to find a name that will best describe what it stands for. Please see attached one of the entries received. More will be posted soon. |

STUTTERHEIM IS LAUNCHING IT'S NEW TOWN BRAND Besides the new bridge that is now available to the public, Stutterheim is launching a new town brand that represents what the town means to its residents. Two other infrastructure upgrade projects, currently in development, will also contribute to changing the face of the town. Read more
